 "Not a Quiet Fan" 2010-08-02

By Sufi Path (New Lebanon, NY)

I have to admit I am disappointed in the 40-inch WTOTF by Lasko. I have a smaller version that I bought at BB&B that is fabulous and that I would highly recommend. This one make a chugging noise on all three settings. Another reviewer suggested removing the motor's ball bearings and cleaning and re-greasing them, but I am not an engineer and my husband commented that doing that kind of procedure is tricky. I will not buy another LASKO unless it is a smaller version.

"All I could ask for in a fan" 2010-07-29

By Matthew T. Kahn (Washington, DC)

I will make this review short. This fan is fantastic. It is powerful, quiet, and tall (so that it can reach a space from the floor to about chest level). When it oscillates, it cools the entire room; even on a very hot day. It is a very good fan. 'Nuff said.

 "Very bad experience" 2010-07-21

By senenami

I bought this fan from WalMart. It worked fine on first day. I unplugged the next day and left it till evening. In the evening when I tried to switch on the power, it gives a long beep and the fan never started. I tried all the controls and nothing worked.

Very bad electronic controls.

"Good fan with small footprint" 2010-07-16

By Andrew Lyons

Got Lasko 40inch Wind tower a few weeks ago and have been very pleased with it. It does a good job and doesn't take up much space. Could have been a bit cheaper but hopefully it will last a few years and be worth the extra cash.

"How Can I Like A Fan So Much?" 2010-07-14

By C. Slasor (Central Florida)

It amazes me to realize how glad I am that I bought this fan. I mean, it's just a fan. And yet it suits my needs so well that I give myself a mental pat on the back every time I turn it on. Weird, huh?

I had used a typical round oscillating fan on the floor of my den for years when it finally bit the dust (no pun intended). It worked OK so when I went shopping for a new one I really expected to get the same thing. But it turned out those fans were harder to find than I expected, while the tower fans were much more prevalent. So I decided to take a chance and get this tower fan.

This fan takes up less floor space and fits neatly beside the door to the den, rather than sticking out and making me carefully walk around it all the time like the round fan did. It is quieter than the round fan. Even at low speed it puts out plenty of air. The tower configuration means the air is distributed at the right height for someone sitting at a desk, but isn't so concentrated that it blows papers around. The on/off switch is on the top of the tower so no more bending over to reach the switch at floor level. And I really love the remote control which lets me turn the fan on or off, turn the speed up or down, and turn the oscillating on or off to have it blow either on me or somewhere else in the room.

It is not real tall so if you want a fan to blow on you while you're in bed this probably wouldn't be a good choice. Otherwise it's great and I highly recommend it.
