"Not quite as good as it sounds." 2010-02-02

I bought two of these for two toilets, obviously, but I am not too happy. I installed the first on in a 1994 Kohler toilet and it took roughly 20 minutes to install and adjust. The solid waste flusher works but you have to push it in really hard which is not so cool. The quick flush, or whatever they call it, doesn't work at all. Well, it works but you have to push it in and then release the button when you feel it has flushed the right amount. The documentation that comes with the product says you could buy another part to make it work but the documentation is not clear on which one will work and why you really need it since the product should do this already.

I am contemplating returning it since I don't think it does what it advertises. I could do the same thing by toggling the toilet handle to release the right amount of water for a quick flush.

I wouldn't reccommend it at all.

"Easy Installation. Works Great!" 2010-02-01
By Leebo (USA)
This was a pleasant surprise. It was economical and it works as advertised. I gave this to my brother who had a toilet which the lid stayed off and you had to manually pull the float chain with your hand to flush. It stayed that way for many months. I finally gave him this for his birthday and even helped him install it. The instructions weren't the best. There are many parts to this device and getting an initial understanding of the mechanisms took a moment. However after figuring out how to install it everything went in easily. My brother initially pushed the mechanism too far down onto the overflow tube which caused the blue bottom gasket to get a small misalignment in it as it was pushed to far down into the flushing drain hole. This caused the toilet to constantly run as water trickled down into the toilet bowl. I raised the unit and realigned it and gently pushed it down onto the float drain hole and inspected it for a tight seal. I turned the water supply back on and listened for any leaking. None at all. It sealed up great. The flushing mechanism works great. The flushing buttons are a little hard to push in and small children may have a hard time actuating them. Otherwise the HydroRight works great. The small flush is strong enough to use for everything. The large flush actually flushes the bowl twice! This old 3 gal toilet now uses very little water to flush. It only lowers the water level inside the tank a couples of inches for the small flush and a few more for the large flush. Great Product!

"Probably a good product" 2010-01-30
By Terry C. Weeks (SC)
I purchased this dual flush converter to install in one of my two toilets. My intentions were that this one would be a trial run unit. Unfortunately, I was not able to install the unit due to the fact it requires 11" of height inside the toilet tank. I might be wrong but I don't recall seeing this "minor detail" anywhere in the advertisements prior to my ordering it. The instructions packed with the unit does spell out that requirement.

That being said, and having examined the unit, I think it would be a good product to use for water conservation. I'm keeping the unit and if the time comes where I need to repair the toilet I'll replace the toilet flapper seat to a smaller type and then install the dual flush converter.

"great product great price very simple" 2010-01-30
By Fred (Katy TX)
I saw the product recommended on a "how to TV Show". Instead of going to store I checked amazon and was pleased to find the product with a cheaper price. It arrived quickly and took about 5 minutes to install. this product will definitely save water for men, because so many flushes don't require paper. with women the amount of time they will use the reduced flow flush is purely a function of how much paper they use. the more toilet paper used the less likely she will use reduced flow. In our house I estimate that we use the reduced flush on at least 40 percent of the flushes. We installed our Hydroright on the master bath toilet so that my wife and I would be the only useres, as I didn't want it confuse house guests with two buttons.
The only complaint that my wife has is that the push type flush buttons require more pressure than she likes. It is a valid complaint and could cause older people a problem. Overall this is a great product and I would recommend that everyone try it on at least one of their home toilets. Men will use this about 80 percent of the time, women not so much. the company also has a water valving kit that I will order that I discovered on their website. A very good common sense company.

"Easy to install and saves water, just as advertised" 2010-01-29
By N. Anderson (Potomac, MD United States)
For once a product that works just as it claims. Installation was quick and easy. It flushed fine on the low setting on the first try, with no adjustment. The low setting drained about half the tank. High setting drained the full tank correctly. Be aware you have to push the buttons with a decent amount of force to over come the pressure of the water holding down the stopper (no more lever advantage from the toilet handle). I am going to buy these for the rest of the toilets in my house.
